Humor: Indexed - Really, It’s Okay.

It's official...now go get yourself a murse and quit wearing those cargo pants & carpenter jeans!

Humor- Zombies Ahead!!!

I was just telling Farilla last weekend (as we drove past one of these signs) how I recently read a blog which described exactly how this is done...apparently I wasn't the only one!

Running: 4 More...

Yawn...it's not easy getting up before the sun but I'm glad I did.  I ignored my gym alarm twice this this week already!  I took is slower this AM because I wanted to hit 4 miles before pooping out.  I burn more calories the longer I run so that was another good incentive.  I'm feeling lots of little aches and twinges this AM...they'll all work themselves out in time.  It's all a part of the process...

Just one more snap I shot with my iPhone while birthday'ing at the Getty Villa with Farilla yesterday afternoon. If you haven't yet visited the Villa in Malibu I highly recommend booking a reservation with lunch in mind. The food at the Cafe never disappoints. Despite the drizzle we were still able to enjoy covered patio seating (with an ocean view) next to a heater. Righteously delightful!

And, as if that's not enough, I sent in my FINAL payment-in-full for a school loan today! Double w00t!

[Thanks Nor Cal CJ & Farilla!]

Poster Boy is definitely a new fave! I love that his only tool is a razor blade. I hear artists complain frequently about the high cost of art supplies and I find it absolutely brilliant that PB has completely cut (no pun intended) the $$$ factor out of the equation. Brilliant, inventive, creative...bad ass! Bravo!

Music: Bye Indie 103.1, Hello Digital Indie

from Indie 1031.com...

This is an important message for the Indie 103.1 Radio Audience -

Indie 103.1 will cease broadcasting over this frequency effective immediately. Because of changes in the radio industry and the way radio audiences are measured, stations in this market are being forced to play too much Britney, Puffy and alternative music that is neither new nor cutting edge. Due to these challenges, Indie 103.1 was recently faced with only one option --- to play the corporate radio game.

We have decided not to play that game any longer. Rather than changing the sound, spirit, and soul of what has made Indie 103.1 great Indie 103.1 will bid farewell to the terrestrial airwaves and take an alternative course.

This could only be done on the Internet, a place where rules do not apply and where new music thrives; be it grunge, punk, or alternative simply put, only the best music.

For those of you with a computer at home or at work, log on to www.indie1031.com and listen to the new Indie 103.1 - which is really the old Indie 103.1, not the version of Indie 103.1 we are removing from the broadcast airwaves.

We thank our listeners and advertisers for their support of the greatest radio station ever conceived, and look forward to continuing to deliver the famed Indie 103.1 music and spirit over the Internet to passionate music listeners around the world.

Friends: Daft Punk VS Freeland Aer-OBAMA

"The following is a mixed-media stop motion music video and celebration commemorating the election and inauguration of Barack Obama as the forty-fourth president of these United States. Audibly showcasing Adam Freeland's remix of Daft Punk's "Aerodynamic" and the imaginative stylings of forward thinking toy artists Dalek, Bill McMullen and Kubrick to name just a few. Independently animated and directed by the progressive minds of the directing team GOLD, the piece is a labor of love that invites everyone to join in or create their own celebration this coming Tuesday January the 20th."

Art: Interactive Sharpie Billboard

From thecoolhunter.net...

"The creative minds working for Sharpie, the ultimate in permanent markers, have discovered a way to satiate our desires to deface public domain. Interactive e-cast billboards have been scattered around cities, which allow people to experience the rush of creating their own graffiti. Choose some colors, write a message and Sharpie makes it possible for anyone to leave his permanent mark on the side of the bus stop or the public phone or anywhere else billboard adverting may be experienced." - Andrew J Wiener

Let me know if you peep one around Soul Cal. I'd love to see how people are interacting with these billboards!

Running: Back In The Game!

How this image on the Nike+ site......

...translates to this Nike+ widget....

...I will never understand?!  Mind you I'm running on a treadmill and never significantly increased or decreased my pace.  But whatever, what's most important here is that I made it to the gym this morning.  It's the second time this week!

This is the 3rd year in a row that I've returned to training at the onset of the New Year.  I work hard right up until The Burn (end of August) and then I take a 4 month vacation from the gym.  Don't mistake this for a New Year's resolution.  It probably has more to do with the fact that I'll be celebrating another successful twirl around the sun this month.  So here I am again...back at it!  Wish me luck!

Life: Fellow Bloggers, Follow Me!

I always learn a cool new trick when I visit my Seattle-based Playa Sister J9's blog. Most recently I've discovered that Blogger allows other Bloggers to 'follow' each other. If you're currently ranting & raving on this here site you can click on the "Follow This (Righteous) Blog" link to the right which will cause angels to come down from the heavens and announce to the world that you're a fellow Knowledge Seeker! Seriously. I would not joke about such things.

And (as if that wasn't enough) if you follow these simple instructions you can set up a 'follow' widget on your very own page! Be sure to leave a comment below once you've added this tool so I can make the angels sing too!

Life: Skiing Is Overrated!

My sister is currently sitting in a hospital recovering from a major concussion after a chairlift accident last weekend. After seeing this photo (posted today on Gizmodo) I've decided that skiing is TOTALLY overrated:

"In a bizarre incident that will surely lead to litigation (or an out-of-court settlement), a skier at Colorado's ritzy Vail resort was left dangling upside down and pantsless from a chairlift last Thursday morning. The January 1 mishap apparently occurred after the male skier, 48, and a child boarded a high-speed lift in Vail's Blue Sky Basin. It appears that the chairlift's fold-down seat was somehow not in the lowered position, which caused the man to partially fall through the resulting gap. His right ski got jammed in the ascending chairlift, and that kept him upended since his boot never dislodged from its binding."

Hey, CJ, at least you didn't lose your pants! ;-)

I hope you feel better soon.
Love!

Mine: Choegal By David Choe

Mine!

Dave <span class=

I skipped Dave's signing at GR2 last month because I don't do cold well. I had a feeling there would be a crazy line and as it turns out I was right. Instead, I planned on being up in SF later that week so I figured I'd just swing by GRSF. Unfortunately when I got there I was told that Dave's Choegal "was just an LA thing". Completely bummed. The Choegal is limited to 1,000 so I was worried that they'd sell out before I could get my hands on one. As soon as I got back to LA I made it a priority to go by the gallery. Success! Actually DOUBLE SUCCESS... when I got her home I found that she had indeed been signed! w00t! Thanks Dave! I couldn't be more stoked!

In case you missed it here's a little vid from the signing...

While I was avoiding standing out in the cold the lovely Ms. Lauren braved both the elements AND the crowd by standing in line for 2 HOURS! Yep, that's what I call dedication. Imagine my surprise then I open up B&L's xmas gift and found this. I seriously gasped when I unwrapped my very own signed copy of GR 57 featuring Dave's Obama cover! Thanks L & B!!! You couldn't have gifted this girl a better present! Slam dunk!

You can read more about Choegal here...or maybe even get your very own!

Burning Man: 2009 Art Theme - Evolution

(From Burningman.com.  Design by Rod Garret and Larry Harvey. Rendering by Andrew Johnstone and Rod Garrett.)

The day after we stepped off the Playa last August BMorg announced that the art theme for Burning Man 2009 is going to be Evolution.  If you're seeking inspiration for the Burn this year I encourage you to check out this stellar article from Wired Science.  As it turns out, next month marks the 200th birthday of the Father of Evolution himself, Charles Darwin.

I love this photo from Wired's article:

For Burning Man 2009 I envision feathers! Lots and lots of big, beautiful and VERY well secured feathers!

246 days until the Man burns! It's never too early to start creating.
