Running: Easing Back In
The kinks are loosening up! It was a good run this AM but I started out a little faster than last week and pooped out by 3 miles. I'll have to try to pace things out better next time. My back, of all things, is tight. Must stretch...

Running: Yawn...
First thing out of my mouth this AM was "Are we really going to the gym this morning?" That said, I finally understand why it's been so hard for me to get back into gym mode post-burn. It's f'g dark out at 6am during this time of year,yo! Anyway, we did it....we made it back to the gym. For those keeping track this is the first time back since before the Burn. Which makes it about a month since my last workout. I pushed through 3 miles at a much slower pace than where I left off. It's clear I've got some kinks to work out so taking it slow was a good thing.

Running: Three, Faster
My left ankle has been hurting for the last three days. It feels like there are tiny rocks in the joint and they're forcing me to roll my ankle out a bit as I walk in order to avoid the pain. So, like any completely rational person would do, rather than running four miles this morning I ran three...faster. I know, I know....it doesn't make sense. Ankle was bothering me while stretching and through warm-up but as soon as I began running the pain went away....so I powered through the run. Good cardio. I can totally feel it in my lungs. Ahhhhh.....

Running: It's Been A While...
...a month to be exact. I've been a little (and at times a lot) under the weather over last few weeks. Allergies turned head cold turned major sinus infection = no fun. This week has been great so I wanted to get right back into my training. Silly me to think I could pick up where I left off. My bruised ribs only made me that much more uncomfortable. I stopped at 3 miles which was about 2.5 miles more than my body would have liked. Of course I'm glad I did it....after the fact.

Running: Quick Like!
Due to a key card snafu I had to keep this run short so I decided to just pound out what I could on the treadmill in the 25 minutes I had free this AM. I started at 7.0 and gradually pushed my pace up to 7.8 by mile 3. With this constant increase of speed over the course of my run I can't explain all of those valleys...WTF, Nike+? Oh well...still trying to get that pace under 7 minutes per mile. Then I'll start focusing on distance again.

Running: Easing Back In....
For those who aren't aware I've had to take a break from running in order to mend some injuries. My 'new' NikeiD's crapped out just shy of 200 miles. As such, they started causing some pretty painful wear and tear on my feet. Then due to overcompensating for said pain my tracking was thrown off and my hip started to pay the price. NO FUN AT ALL.
After weeks of trying to push through the pain I finally forced myself to take the last 3 weeks off so my body could heal. In the meantime I've been hooked up with a gym membership so that I can run safely on a treadmill rather than dodging cars and lifted sidewalks around Rancho Park/Cheviot Hills.
I kept tonight's run slow and short in order to assess things. Glad to report that I feel great and I'm completely stoked about being back in the gym.
Thirteen days until I climb Half Dome...

Running: The Old Hood
Ran through Sunset Park yesterday...kept it short because every part of my being was telling me to take the night off. However I took Thursday off and didn't want to have two days back to back of no running without good reason. I felt slow. My legs felt heavy, stiff and sore. No running today for sure. Despite how crappy I felt my time wasn't so bad.
The break down:
Mile 1: 6'51"
Mile 2: 6'40"
Mile 3: 6'53"

Running: Fastest Mile To Date
Only ran three miles this afternoon but the 2nd mile in this set was my fastest mile pace so far this year(!!!) So stoked...totally shocked!
Here's the run down...
Mile 1: 7'04"
Mile 2: 6'33"
Mile 3: 6'59"
I seriously feel so slow when I'm running. Can't get over these numbers. w00t!
