I went to the new Barney's in The Village yesterday. Talk about sensory overload. At least the food and service were good.  I definitely recommend the Greek Stuffed Potato and Veggie Chili!

Life: The One And Only...

The One And Only...

I took my 6yo niece to Diddy Riese, the mother of all cookie shops, this afternoon. I nearly passed out when she looked at a kid in the window eating mint and chip ice cream smashed between two glorious chocolate chip cookies and said I don't like that kind of ice cream sandwich.  I mean, seriously, what kid looks at cookies and ice cream and says....um, no way, Lady.  I then pulled out my multi-tool and clipped a bit of her hair for DNA analysis.  There's no way we're blood related.

Humor: Mind-Blowingly Inappropriate

photo.jpg

On my way into the Village this afternoon (to check out the new Scramble Crosswalk) I peeped this Gossip Girl ad. I'm quite amused with the way the CW marketing team has used the Parents Television Council's own criticism of GG to help sell the show! In case it's not that clear there are two teens laying in bed together with the quote "Mind-Blowingly Inappropriate"- Parents Television Council.

Totally brilliant.

Sex sells!

Art: Make Art Not War

I was just wandering around Westwood Village enjoying another beautiful sunny day in Soul Cal when I stumbled across this print.  It was taped to the side of a metal box which, no doubt, hides very important telephone wires and such.

This crazy little print (about 11"X16" printed on heavy card stock) jumped right off the side of said box and into my hands!  Shocking, I know...but what could I do?!  I (oops, I mean Mr. Poster) just couldn't help himself!

I suppose Mr. Poster knew that I could guarantee him a MUCH better life hanging framed in my house than he ever would have experienced plastered on the side of a metal box in the Village!  ;)

Mad props to the artist...wish I knew who you were!

(Sorry for the crappy photo...stoopid iPhone!)

Life: What's Yer Time Worth?!

I ran into the Village today to see my Tailor (who is THE BEST, btw) and I encountered a mob of what appeared to be mostly UCLA students in line for (what I assume was) free food being given away at the Grand Opening of the new Chipotle restaurant on Broxton.  While I'm sure I did similar things for free food (a couple of years ago *ahem*) when I was an u-grad at UCLA...the whole scene left me thinking how my time is worth so much more these days.  I mean, it's not like it's the American Apparel Warehouse sale or anything!  Seriously, what could a burrito at that place cost?

Actually now that I think about it I undoubtedly spent many waking (yet, less valuable) minutes of my life in a line for Diddy Reise cookies (just up the street) which were indeed NOT FREE, but practically.  Yum...worth every minute!  Oh and I feel it's worth mentioning that the end of this line wrapped around the corner and came within a few feet of Bel Air Camera.

So the moral of this story is if you want to get a college student's undivided attention offer them free food....the end.
