Photos: 11.11.11

This is what happens when sixty (or so) of the most incredible people you know drop a gigantic neutron LOVE bomb right into the center of the Mojave Desert.  Happy 50th, Kirk!  You are loved.  You are love.

Friday Night Cinematic:  (as beautifully described by Jeff Vetterick)
a video-short festival of original works created for the weekend, by some of my fellow campers, all projected onto a mammoth rock face in what can only be described as an outdoor cathedral of natural rock formations.

Also, know as Church.

Photos: MOCA - Art In The Streets

Farilla and I were lucky enough to catch Art In The Streets the day before it closed.  I really enjoyed the show but I'm a little disappointed with the female graff artist representation.  Fafi was definitely missed.  Miss Van's piece was oddly hidden around a corner all by itself.  And I can't help but wonder if Margaret Kilgallen's work (which, for the record, I'm a big fan of) would have received that much wall space if she was still alive.

Wedding: Engagement Photos

Yeah, I know...we're under the 90 day mark and we're just finally getting around to taking our engagement photos.  Well, it might make a little more sense with some background.  Farilla proposed last September and we immediately started looking for our venue.  We had our venue locked in by October and the next most important thing to check off the list (in my mind, at least) was to find our photog.  I communicated with 9 or 10 different photographers before we decided to book Andre Niesing.  This was last November.  Our engagement shoot was included in our wedding photography package but since the following months were so cold and rainy we decided to put the shoot off until Spring.  Well, in case you hadn't noticed, spring has sprung and here we are in the mountains of Malibu:

This last photo is my absolute favorite.  Yes there are a ton more shots but we'll stick with sharing these few for now.  I'm thrilled with our decision to hire Andre.  He has a very bold and classic style with just a bit of edge.  And as someone who is pretty camera shy he did a good job of helping to make me feel as comfortable as possible in front of the lens.  I can't wait to see what he does with our wedding snaps!

Photos: Matt & Amanda's Wedding

We were in Georgia last weekend for Farilla's brother's beach side wedding on Tybee Island.    The ceremony was mid afternoon but the celebration/after party went well into the wee hours of the morning!  It was an absolutely spectacular day!  And the best part....Karaoke Reception!  No, I didn't sing.  No big surprise there (I'm tone deaf...seriously!).  But I was completely blown away by the incredibly talented guests who did brave the mic.  SUCH a talented bunch!  Wow!

Congrats, again, to Matt & Amanda!  May your lives always be filled with love and beautiful music!

Below are a few snaps from our weekend in Tybee and Savannah.  For the full set of photos click here.

We spent a few hours in Savannah with Matt & Amanda before boarding our flight home.  While I have traveled to the East Coast numerous times this was my first trip to the South (apparently Florida doesn't count as the south).  The Riverfront was a treat!  We enjoyed adult-slushies from Wet Willie's and the settled in for Matt's birthday lunch at Rocks On The River (highly recommend!) where I got my first southern Sweet Tea!

Again, you can view the complete slideshow of our weekend here.  Enjoy!
