Mine: Choegal By David Choe

Mine!

Dave <span class=

I skipped Dave's signing at GR2 last month because I don't do cold well. I had a feeling there would be a crazy line and as it turns out I was right. Instead, I planned on being up in SF later that week so I figured I'd just swing by GRSF. Unfortunately when I got there I was told that Dave's Choegal "was just an LA thing". Completely bummed. The Choegal is limited to 1,000 so I was worried that they'd sell out before I could get my hands on one. As soon as I got back to LA I made it a priority to go by the gallery. Success! Actually DOUBLE SUCCESS... when I got her home I found that she had indeed been signed! w00t! Thanks Dave! I couldn't be more stoked!

In case you missed it here's a little vid from the signing...

While I was avoiding standing out in the cold the lovely Ms. Lauren braved both the elements AND the crowd by standing in line for 2 HOURS! Yep, that's what I call dedication. Imagine my surprise then I open up B&L's xmas gift and found this. I seriously gasped when I unwrapped my very own signed copy of GR 57 featuring Dave's Obama cover! Thanks L & B!!! You couldn't have gifted this girl a better present! Slam dunk!

You can read more about Choegal here...or maybe even get your very own!

Mine: Blue Feather Fun Fur Hat By Ms. Presto

One of my most creative Playa Sisters, Ms. Presto, has recently launched her new Playa Accessory site WearWithAttitude.com. As such, she's reduced some of her older styles (non-reversible) in her Etsy.com store up to 50%!!! The Blue Feather Hat you see here is my most recent acquisition. Just lovely, eh?!

If you're looking for righteous, handmade faux-fur Playa Gear made with 100% love for the Burner community (and beyond) then, most definitely, peep her sites!

Photography: Nikon D700 ANNOUNCED!

Finally!!!

Ironically, last night over dinner I was chatting with a fellow-Nikon shooter about how I can't wait for this camera to drop! Apparently the wait is over...introducing my new DSLR:

From Gizmodo:

"It's real. The mid-range DSLR you've been waiting for: Nikon's D700 DSLR packs the D3's supernaturally low-noise 12.1-megapixel full-frame image sensor into a smaller, lighter body, for only $2999.

The only thing you really sacrifice is a smidge of burst speed (down to 5FPS, or 8 with the battery pack) and the 5:4 cropping options. Otherwise, it actually has a bunch of improvements all around: The 51-point autofocus-system has gotten an IQ boost with 3D focus tracking (which apparently made Nikon's test-shooting at Belmont the other week a crispy clear breeze). Active D-Lighting for more contrast-y highlights and shadows is more automagical than before. The virtual horizon can now be displayed with live view. Plus, it has the sensor auto-cleaning from the D300 that was strangely absent from the D3, along with GPS support and HDMI port. The ISO can still be cranked to 25,600 or dropped to 100. It really is the D3 in body barely bigger than the D300.

Drooling yet? It'll be available later this month. I think Nikon has a hit here—Canon better have their 5D Mark II ready to go."

If you care to read about all of the D700's fabulousness you can do so here (with the exception of the twinkie flash, wtf?!).

Mine: I Am Not A Paper Cup

Last January I added to my ever growing Wish List this lovely little gem appropriately named 'I am not a paper cup...'. Once NAPC was finally made available (Decor Craft, Inc.) it STILL took a couple of months to get my hands on this reusable double walled porcelain vessel of the hot-beverage-drinking gods (complete with silicone lid)!

I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I've had NAPC for a couple of weeks now and much like my Klean Kanteen I rarely leave home without her.
I've already gifted one to an avid coffee drinker and he loves it as well. And it's totally entertaining to watch the baristas at my regular chai latte haunts COMPLETELY trip out over this cup. Trust me when I say that NAPC exemplifies radness to the 10th degree!

And if that didn't compel you to order up your own then maybe these stats will help convince you that the waste produced from disposable coffee cups is no joke.

Mine: Could.Not.Resist.

How could I resist?

1) They're ADIDAS!
2) They're Blue
3) They're Orange!
4)They were on SALE!

I may never take them off! Better yet, I think I'll name my first-born after them...ZX 700! Rolls right off the tongue, don'tcha think?!
