This is exactly what the Playa looked like the first time I experienced it 10 Burns ago...serious over-stimulation. Everything was whirling around me at hyper-speed. My brain couldn't process all of those sights and sounds. My eyes had trouble tracking across the vast desert landscape...look over there...no, over there...no, over there! My head was spinning. It was probably the closest thing to a Zach Braff induced time-lapse sequence that I'll ever experience...Just ran across this (and this) photo on Flickr. One of my favorite things to do post-burn is to scan the recent Burner uploads. It's totally therapeutic...helps with the post-Playa funk. Pictured here are Jimmoi and Lizziebot. This was taken at sunrise on Sunday at Opulent Temple where Team Shutterilla & Team Limmie danced well into the morning hours. Yes, they really are THAT amazing together! Mrtwism could not have captured a more perfect Playa moment of this radiant couple. Bravo!
Adi, a longtime friend and fellow Slicer just ran across this lovely photo of Shutterillaville (aka The Hut) taken by our BRC neighbor ninjaonmoss. As you can probably tell this was shot pre-event opening. Farilla and I went out early again this year with Ops and Otter to work with Greeters. I love getting into the city early and watching it grow. We heard the population was only around 43,000 this year. Down from about 53,000 in 2008. Going out before the event opens allows you to meet so many more people which in-turn makes the city not seem so large. I really enjoyed riding around during burn week and bumping into people we'd met/greeted during the early days. For a larger view of this image click here.
We're coming up on noon! Just a couple more braids to go then we dip the tips. Almost out of here. Next on the agenda will be food. Tummy is growling.
Just started our 4th hour. Kelly's finishing up with the other side of my head now. Hope to be done by noon. Then home to continue with packing, food shopping and food prep. Ahh, so close!
The magic maker! Lightening speed hands!
Kelly's moving at lightening speed!
One hour in...things are moving along smoothly. I realized this morning that I've been coming to Kelly for braids since at least 2003. I love spending this time with her. We have a years worth of stories to get caught up on. So far the biggest news is that Kelly is four months pregnant!!! I'm so incredibly happy for her. Listening to her talk about the baby so lovingly is proof positive that she'll be a wonderful Mama. Stay tuned...more updates to come.
Topless Deb & Naked Bruce holding court at Greeter Training yesterday up at Widget's hillside hideaway. I was a greeter last year but I never had any formal training so Farilla and I carved out some time to attend this gathering. Lots of good info and tons of laughter...so glad we went!
