Burning Man 2009: Evolution Time Lapse

Evolution (Burning Man time lapses) from Delrious on Vimeo.

This is exactly what the Playa looked like the first time I experienced it 10 Burns ago...serious over-stimulation. Everything was whirling around me at hyper-speed. My brain couldn't process all of those sights and sounds. My eyes had trouble tracking across the vast desert landscape...look over there...no, over there...no, over there! My head was spinning. It was probably the closest thing to a Zach Braff induced time-lapse sequence that I'll ever experience...

Life: Happy 200th Birthday, Chuck!

Today marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin! w00t! I suspect the Father of Evolution would have smiled for this photo had he seen the Finch-tastic banner Google has up today! Mad propz for all of your hard work, Chuck. I'm doing a little celebratory birfday shuffle in your honor right now (to the new Gui Boratto tune I just downloaded). I only wish we were all evolving at the same rate....if that were the case this major mistake may never have happened.

Burning Man: 2009 Art Theme - Evolution

(From Burningman.com.  Design by Rod Garret and Larry Harvey. Rendering by Andrew Johnstone and Rod Garrett.)

The day after we stepped off the Playa last August BMorg announced that the art theme for Burning Man 2009 is going to be Evolution.  If you're seeking inspiration for the Burn this year I encourage you to check out this stellar article from Wired Science.  As it turns out, next month marks the 200th birthday of the Father of Evolution himself, Charles Darwin.

I love this photo from Wired's article:

For Burning Man 2009 I envision feathers! Lots and lots of big, beautiful and VERY well secured feathers!

246 days until the Man burns! It's never too early to start creating.
