Life: Sunday Brunch With The Grrrs!

Life: Sunday Brunch With The Grrrs!
Originally uploaded by Sanctuary-Studio

I left a fabulous Eastside brunch with the Lofties yesterday feeling so incredibly happy and content. It may have had something to do with the delicious meal Poop whipped up. Or it quite possibly had something to do with the fabulous smile on TheNewSlice's face (as shown above with his Yoda backpack). But mostly I think it had to do with the fact that they told me they're coming to Granite Pass for Homeslice Decom next month!!! Can't wait to be back in the desert with my 'Slice family!

Photos: Happy Dre Day!!!

I know, I know...I'm running WAY behind with this post. I also know that most of you understand that Burning Man prep is in full-effect so everything (including sleep) has to wait a bit these days.

A couple of weekends ago the Lofties celebrated the much anticipated FIRST birthday of their beautiful little boy, Andre! Dr. Dre sure can pull in a crowd! Such a blast!!! In fact I'm not sure who had more fun...the Shorties or all of the BIG kids who got to take a whack at the Piñata!!!

LIfe: Aerial Silk & Trapeze Training

Last weekend I trekked out to Eagle Rock to take my first Aerial Silk and Trapeze class offered through Focus Fish.  Jazz and I arrived at Extreme Training Center a bit early and had a chance to watch the end of the intermediate class (pictured here).

The excitement was definitely building...

There were only four people in our intro class.  This turned out to be ideal.  With 3 trapeze bars and 3 silks we each had ample time to practice the techniques being taught.  The class focused on stretching, upper body & core strengthening  and basic silk & trapeze techniques.  I'm grateful that Judith, our fantastic instructor, broke the class up with lots of stretching.  Can't even begin to tell you how sore my pecs, lats and abs are today, two days after class!  I was really surprised to learn that silk and trapeze require you to engage more muscle groups than just your arms.  Core and leg strength are just as crucial.

The hour-long class flew by.  It was definitely a workout but we were having so much fun I hardly noticed.   With that said I was thoroughly fatigued by the end of our session.  I'm definitely planning on making this class a regular part of my ongoing training regimen but I've recently recommitted to Boot Camp (beginning this Saturday...w00t!) so I don't think I'll get back out to Silk/Trapeze for a couple of weeks.  I figure if I can alternate Boot Camp & Trapeze/Silk classes every other weekend it will make for a diverse training program...on top of my ongoing running routine, natch!

Oh, it's worth mentioning that the Aerial class takes a beating on your hands!  When Jazz and I got back to The Loft we went straight for the ice...Yeow!  I tried to take a picture of how raw and red my hands were but this doesn't seem to adequately represent the soreness.

Raw hands after Trapeze/Aerial Silk class

Totally worth it....

Art: Caught In The Act...

Last weekend while hanging with my favorite Eastsiders we popped into the urban art supply store, Maintain in Silverlake.  In a small courtyard on the side of the shop I captured this creator creating....

That Dude had mad skillz!  It was amazing to see how much control he had with those spray cans.  So impressive!

Life: The new guy...

For those who keep asking...

Yes, I'm back on the dating scene.  Something I've had mixed feelings about until recently. However, I'm glad to report that I've met a really great fella...and while he's the first guy that I've EVER dated who is younger than I am I truly believe this could be a match made in heaven.

We had our first solo date on Saturday night and it was nothing less than stellar.  D's a drummer in a band, you see....(how hot is that?!).  His band plays weekly at The Loft in Echo Park.  We were first introduced about 5 months ago and I've since forgiven him for the way he was drooling all over me that day.  I must admit that D's baby blues absolutely make me melt and the huge smile he gets on his face when I walk in the door is to-die-for.

I snapped a pic from Saturday night of D rockin' out at The Loft with his crew.  If you're at all intrigued you can see that shot of him here.

Totally adorable, right?!

Now if we can just get something done about that 7:30p curfew...
