As we were driving home from Iris late one night last week we found ourselves going right past Evelyn & Brian's home which is also home to our favorite thriving lemon tree. Naturally, we didn't hesitate to pull over and pluck a few.
I finally got around to juicing 'em up this afternoon.
Our twelve GINORMOUS Meyer Lemons yielded just over 4 cups of juice. Which, in turn, produced one gallon of lemonade plus two cups of juice left over for Farilla's smoothies, and such.
Freshly Squeezed Lemonade
Sugar Syrup recipe:
2c sugar
2c water
In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Let syrup cool.
Lemonade recipe:
10c water
2 1/2c freshly squeezed lemon juice
3c sugar syrup
In pitcher (or in my case, two 2-quart/half gallon mason jars), stir together syrup, lemon juice and water. Chill.
Yields about a gallon.
A huge thanks to our friends, E & B, for so generously sharing their delicious lemons with us!
