Life: 18lbs Of Veggies!

I picked up another CSA box yesterday. This is definitely the heaviest box I've received thus far...weighing in at exactly 18 lbs. Not a huge surprise considering what I found inside...

Burgundy Spring Onions
White Spring Onions
Carrots
Red Beets
Chiogga Beets
Zucchini
Long Neck Yellow Squash
Nice (Round) Squash

Running: Weds & Fri

About a mile and a half into my Wednesday morning run iPod ran out of juice. For a moment I actually thought to myself "Crap, now what?!" Then I realized that I just keep running. It just goes to show how much of a motivating factor my Nike+ has been. Being able to track my progress really does keep me going.

I had a really great run this AM. I pushed myself to get through this workout as quickly as possible because I needed to get back to walk Not-Monster, make green smoothies and pack up lunch for Farilla. As I sit here typing this post I'm feeling completely zen'd out...definitely the sign of a good morning workout!

Mine: New Playa Stompers!

Straight from NYC! Ahoy, Matey!

Art: Invader Blowing My Mind Again!

Incredible! Speaking of, while driving through Westwood Village last week I noticed an Invader. I'm fairly certain that it's new! This marks my first Westside Invader sighting. Until now I've only ever seen his work displayed on the Eastside. I hope to snap a pic soon. Anyone know if he was in LA recently?

Boy am I scarred! After having two Weims who were super unpredictable on leash I found myself dreading doggie encounters during our walk this AM. Turns out Not-Monster is totally submissive so all the other monsters loved her. But then again, who wouldn't love that face!

I collect art. In fact I've collected so much art over the years that I now have stacks and tubes filled with unframed prints stashed all over the place. While consolidating my art stacks, a couple of weeks ago, I decided it was time to get some more prints up on the walls. Above is my most recent display. Rather than framing I saved some money by using magnetic (stainless steel) strips and mighty magnets. I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

About the art...

Art: Deadline - Pots It Note Stop Motion

From Bang-yao Liu...
This is my senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design. Where my idea comes from is that every time when I am busy, I feel that I am not fighting with my works, I am fighting with those post-it notes and deadline. I manipulating the post-it notes to do pixel-like stop motion and there are some interactions between real actor and post-its.
The making of Deadline...

Actually, this is only half of what came in the box this week (minus the beets). Lots of squash! Internet, what in the world is that white thing? Can anyone name that squash?

Running: It's Been A While...

...a month to be exact. I've been a little (and at times a lot) under the weather over last few weeks. Allergies turned head cold turned major sinus infection = no fun. This week has been great so I wanted to get right back into my training. Silly me to think I could pick up where I left off. My bruised ribs only made me that much more uncomfortable. I stopped at 3 miles which was about 2.5 miles more than my body would have liked. Of course I'm glad I did it....after the fact.

Photos: SF Maker Faire 2009

Special Ops, Farilla and I shot up north to the San Francisco Maker Faire a couple weekends ago. Last year I realized one day just wasn't enough so this year we decided to make a weekend of it. And what an inspirational weekend it was...

So much fun! Farilla even got a crash course on my family when he met, for the first time, 12 (of the 14) family members who also came out to the Faire. (He'd previously met  my Mom & Sister.)  Oh my...no pressure there, eh?! Anyway, for those of you who couldn't join us this year...enjoy the photos. It's never too early to start planning for next year.

Words: We Have Come To Be Danced

We have come to be danced
Not the pretty dance
Not the pretty pretty, pick me, pick me dance
But the claw our way back into the belly
Of the sacred, sensual animal dance
The unhinged, unplugged, cat is out of its box dance
The holding the precious moment in the palms
Of our hands and feet dance.

We have come to be danced
Not the jiffy booby, shake your booty for him dance
But the wring the sadness from our skin dance
The blow the chip off our shoulder dance.
The slap the apology from our posture dance.

We have come to be danced
Not the monkey see, monkey do dance
One two dance like you
One two three, dance like me dance
but the grave robber, tomb stalker
Tearing scabs and scars open dance
The rub the rhythm raw against our soul dance.

We have come to be danced
Not the nice, invisible, self-conscious shuffle
But the matted hair flying, voodoo mama
Shaman shakin’ ancient bones dance
The strip us from our casings, return our wings
Sharpen our claws and tongues dance
The shed dead cells and slip into
The luminous skin of love dance.

We have come to be danced
Not the hold our breath and wallow in the shallow end of the floor dance
But the meeting of the trinity, the body breath and beat dance
The shout hallelujah from the top of our thighs dance
The mother may I?
Yes you may take 10 giant leaps dance
The olly olly oxen free free free dance
The everyone can come to our heaven dance.

We have come to be danced
Where the kingdom’s collide
In the cathedral of flesh
To burn back into the light
To unravel, to play, to fly, to pray
To root in skin sanctuary
We have come to be danced
We have come.
