Life: Gnomes Live Here

While we were getting our hands dirty yesterday I decided to plant another dry terrarium...

Life: We Are Gardeners...

Apparently gardeners buy poop...

Then they plant stuff in it....

Farmer Farilla...

Planted and watered!

We're really excited about our garden. So far we've planted corn, spinach, basil, red lettuce, peppers, bell peppers, red and yellow onions, 3 types of tomatoes, chives & thyme. Today we'll continue working on the other garden bed where we'll finish planting the eggplant, zucchini and whatever else we pick up along the way.

Photos: San Juan Capistrano

Before another month gets away from me...we went to San Juan Capistrano on Valentine's Day. Here are a few snaps I took of the Mission.

It was a spectacular afternoon. I highly recommend this (shorty-friendly) So Cal destination if you're itching to get out of Los Angeles for the day. The city center is filled with a bunch of great shops/boutiques, cafes/restaurants, wine bars and a huge antique mart. Across the RR tracks in the historic Los Rios District are even more boutiques, The Tea House & Zoo Mars petting zoo. best of all the Mission, city center and Los Rios are all walking distance from one another. Parking is easy and plentiful. For a few more snaps from our afternoon click here.

Life: Farilla's Birthday Recap...

My heart is bubbling over with infinite amounts of love and gratitude for all of the friends/family who came over to celebrate Farilla's birthday last night. And THANK YOU to the many folks who sent birthday wishes from afar. Our home has never felt so much warmth. Farilla's Pi Day Birthday celebration was a huge success. A gathering of the tribes, of sorts. An abundance of conversation and creativity filled every room in our home. Wow! I'm basking in the glow of love, friendship and π.

Pi Day Birthday Cake

Team Shutterilla sponsored a Pi memorization contest and we're happy to announce THE WINNER!!! Davoid, you are my hero! Memorizing Pi to the 30th decimal place (3.141592653589793238462643383279) and reciting it on the spot was pure magic. As promised, The Winner was presented with the most amazing prize his brain could ever imagine...

Yep, that there would be one plush Moustachio...handmade by Moi!

Did you Know: The Guinness-recognized record for remembered digits of π is 67,890 digits, held by Lu Chao, a 24-year-old graduate student from China. It took him 24 hours and 4 minutes to recite to the 67,890th decimal place of π without an error.

Life: Happy Birthday, Farilla!

...and Happy National Pi Day!

Many blessings to you as we celebrate this most glorious day...the Birth of Funk! Bring on the moustachios!

I love you more than Pi & Pie.

You are my one.

Art: Got it!

David Choe Posters LA 4/10

After seeing these plastered all over the Westside yesterday I decided I better get one before they're all ganked. Farilla and I attempted a mission last night but said mission was trumped by LOST. Fortunately my morning adventure was a complete success...

Thanks to my multi-tool I was able to reach this beauty (which was stapled to the above telephone pole)...

This poster will compliment my growing Choegal collection nicely, don't you think?

Hoop Dance: Three Days, Four Workshops

Baxter from HoopPath conducted HoopPath/LA this past weekend in Hollywood. The focus being Warrior Style techniques. Oh My Gawd! I can't even begin to convey how blissed out (and sore and tired) I am after spending the last three days learning along side some of the most incredible hoopers in this growing community. Brecken added a workshop to last nights schedule which was an absolute treat. Feeling so blessed to be a part of such a supportive and creative community.

Here are some vids to give you an idea of what we were working on all weekend:

Baxter's infamous Warrior Style....

A huge thanks goes out to Fire Groove for hosting the workshops. And, as always, so much gratitude for my friend and mentor, Special Ops.
