Hoop Camp 2009 from Philo Hagen on Vimeo.
I can't believe I didn't go to Hoop Camp this year. Ops gently but repeatedly encouraged me to join her and Sammi up in Santa Cruz. At the time (right before Burning Man) all I could focus on was The Burn. Ugh, my bad! What an incredible (looking) event. Mark my words...NEXT YEAR!Tuesday, September 29, 2009
Running: Easing Back In
The kinks are loosening up! It was a good run this AM but I started out a little faster than last week and pooped out by 3 miles. I'll have to try to pace things out better next time. My back, of all things, is tight. Must stretch...

When I have a hankering for a veggie burger one of my favorite stops is M Cafe in Culver City. Pictured here is The Big Macro burger, Kale with Spicy Peanut Sauce, a side of fries (w/ beet ketchup) and Kale Lemonade. As usual everything was delish. Although, the lemonade was a bit too sweet (for me even). Unfortunately, the prices keep us from dining here more often but my love for a good (non-soy based) veggie burger will keep me coming back.

Running: Yawn...
First thing out of my mouth this AM was "Are we really going to the gym this morning?" That said, I finally understand why it's been so hard for me to get back into gym mode post-burn. It's f'g dark out at 6am during this time of year,yo! Anyway, we did it....we made it back to the gym. For those keeping track this is the first time back since before the Burn. Which makes it about a month since my last workout. I pushed through 3 miles at a much slower pace than where I left off. It's clear I've got some kinks to work out so taking it slow was a good thing.

You're gifted the best swag when you Greet! Not shown are the 10,000 beers I was handed (including a 12'er of PBR) AND the huge bottle of Kettle One. Most of which we ended up lugging home. And Farilla was worried that we didn't bring enough alcohol. Ha! The bird in the
center is an actual cutout from the magnificent MOM sculpture near 5 o'clock and Esplanade. Complete awesomeness.

Pictured here are Jimmoi and Lizziebot. This was taken at sunrise on Sunday at Opulent Temple where Team Shutterilla & Team Limmie danced well into the morning hours. Yes, they really are THAT amazing together! Mrtwism could not have captured a more perfect Playa moment of this radiant couple. Bravo!

Adi, a longtime friend and fellow Slicer just ran across this lovely photo of Shutterillaville (aka The Hut) taken by our BRC neighbor ninjaonmoss. As you can probably tell this was shot pre-event opening. Farilla and I went out early again this year with Ops and Otter to work with Greeters. I love getting into the city early and watching it grow. We heard the population was only around 43,000 this year. Down from about 53,000 in 2008. Going out before the event opens allows you to meet so many more people which in-turn makes the city not seem so large. I really enjoyed riding around during burn week and bumping into people we'd met/greeted during the early days. For a larger view of this image click here.
